A crowd of 70  people attended a gathering comprising of former officials, athletes and volunteers from the 70, 80, 90 N.A.C.A. era, in the Moyne athletic clubhouse on Saturday March 8th.

This was a much sought after event by many of these  people over the last few years, it was at the funeral of the late Liam Ryan RIP a former chairman and one of the great administrators’ of that time that a decision was made to hold this event.

A committee of 8 got together to plan the night it was decided by all that it would be a night where people who had not met for many years could reminisce about great battles on the running fields, be it in Rathcabbin at cross country, Shamrock  sports, Open road race in Gotenbridge or a Co Track and Field Championship in Clogheen or the All Irelands in Moyne and Coolquill, not to mention the many heated Co Board meetings all in the interest of athletics.

On the night 8 former Co chairmen graced us with their presence all looking  hale  and hearty, from the athletic fields we had former Co youths, novice, junior  and  senior champions in fact we had 5 Co senior ladies cc champions and many track and field champions covering a wide range of disciplines.

A big thanks must go to the 6 ladies who catered on the night whose willingness and pleasantness made the night the success it was.
