All roads lead to Moyne on Sunday 17th of September as the club mark its 75th anniversary. Steeped in history we are marking the milestone with an open race at the iconic Castle Field as a result of the roaring success of last year’s race. A site that has particular importance to our older generation, this fixture was renowned as a true cross-country course throughout the 1950’s. The association and our club has evolved greatly in the past 75 years but it’s always nice to return to our roots and appreciate the simplicity of the art of cross country running.  There will be plenty of action on offer with juvenile races from U9 up to Senior and Master athletes beginning at 12 noon. The course is superb condition given the kind weather we’ve experienced as of late and with the welcome rainfall, ground conditions have softened slightly to give a nice cushion which athletes will relish on! We encourage clubs to come along as it gives opportunity for the athletes to get in race practice ahead of the cross country season which commences the following week. Prizes are on offer on the day with a special commendatory trophy in honour of the late Tomas Flynn will be awarded to the top placed mixed team event in the Senior races. In addition, the Jim O’ Meara Cup is up for grabs for the best juvenile club on the day.  Medals for juvenile contestants will be awarded also, a great incentive for the young athlete’s to come along and run!

In advance of the day, the club would like to acknowledge the ongoing support from the landowner’s Jim O’ Meara and Cantwell family who have been so accommodating in allowing us to use their land for this occasion. A momentous volume of work goes into preparing a course of this cailbre and this requires input from a team of people who have contributed hours in anticipation for Sunday. Therefore, we strongly encourage the wider athletic community and patrons to come along and support this event and join in celebration of 75 happy years of Moyne Athletic Club.

Parking will be at the front of the Castle Field in Moyne. Please follow the direction of the stewards on arrival. Entry is €5 per person on the gate and entries will be taken on the day at the tent. All are welcome.
