Our annual Christmas Presentation Night took place on Friday January 3rd in the Club House, we had a great turnout of athletes and parents. An array of medals were presented; 8 Juvenile & Senior Club Athletes are County Champions at Cross Country, Indoor, Track & Road, 47 athletes won either silver or bronze County medals, 7 teams from the Club are County Champions, 16 teams from the Club won Silver Medals & 19 teams from the Club won Bronze Medals. 1 Athlete won Munster Gold Cross Country, 2 Athletes won Munster Silver at Cross County & Track, 11 Athletes won Munster Bronze at Cross Country & Track, 11 athletes were on the Tipperary Teams that won Munster Medals & 1 Club Team won Bronze Medals. One Athlete won National Gold, 1 Athlete won National Silver & Bronze & 11 Athletes represented Tipperary at the National Cross Country & Relays. The Club was awarded the 2nd Best Cross Country Club – Juvenile Level, 3rd Best Cross Country Club Senior Level, 4th Best Country Road Club, 5th Best County Indoors Club (U9-U19), 6th Best County Indoors (Juniors) & 7th Best County Track & Field Club (U12-U19) – this is a great achievement for our club and well done to all our Juvenile & Senior Athletes and best of luck to you all for the 2014 season. Also, presented on the night was the ‘Athlete of the Year’ Award 2013 that went to Niamh Ryan who has now won this prestigious award for the second year running – Congratulations Niamh on another great year in both Track & Field and Cross Country and for representing your Club, County & Munster with pride. Niamh won two County titles in both the Indoor & Outdoor T&F 600mts and also won medals in the Munster and All Ireland 600mts and Long Jump. Niamh also won medals in Cross Country at both County & Munster levels. The ‘Most Improved Athlete’ for 2013 was Roisin Daly – Roisin won an All Ireland title in the T&F Long Jump. Roisin finished 3rd in both the County Indoor & Outdoor T&F Hurdles & Long Jump, also finishing 3rd in the 1,500mts & 4th in the 800mts. Roisin also won a number of medals in Cross Country at both County and Munster level and represented Munster in the National Cross Country Final. We congratulate both girls on their fantastic achievements and wish them both a successful season for 2014. We would also like to wish Eileen Ryan the very best of luck in her retirement as she has decided after decades of racing to hang up her spikes and take a long earned rest, though she will continue as a valued member of our coaching team to our juvenile athletes. Finally, we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that 2014 will be another successful one for Moyne AC.
