The Novice ‘B’ County Championships took place in Ballingarry on Sunday. The ladies ran 3km and the men ran 6k with excellent running conditions. And what an excellent day for the club it was! Stephen Flanagan was crowned county champion over the 6k course in a time of 20 minutes 53 seconds. This completes the double for Stephen, who won the Novice ‘B’ County Cross-Country this autumn. This terrific performance led the Moyne AC men to silver in the men’s team competition. Brian Carroll and Louis Everard were the second and third scorers on this team, finishing in 9th and 16th respectively. Patrick Bowe had a good run placing in 23rd place in a time of 24minutes 12 seconds with Ray Power finished 35th in a time of 29 minutes 22 seconds.
The women also had an impressive day out, with Sharon Kiely, Sharon Cantwell and Liz Power finishing in the Bronze medal position. Sharon K led the girls home in 9th position, followed closely by Sharon Cantwell (who was recovering from a flu) in 10th. Liz Power finished in 12th position. Well done to all involved. Such a great achievement for the club to medal in both the women and mens competition.
