Not since the 1990’s has a member of the club taken part in the National Track & Field Championships but all that changed on Saturday when Lorraine Healy lined out in the Senior Ladies 800mts.  Such is the competitive nature of the event that 25 athletes signed up to compete, resulting in three heats being run, with Lorraine running in the final heat.  This was her first ever foray into this level of competition but Lorraine pulled out all the stops to record a personal best time of 2.26.62 crossing the line in 7th place.  The top three from her heat qualified for the final with Louise Shanahan and Fiona Kehoe first and second and they would later on Sunday finish second and third in the final won by Irish International Ciara Mageean.  What a way to round off your track and field championships for this year.  Well done Lorraine from all in the club.
