Six of our Juvenile athletes travelled to Nenagh on Saturday last for the Munster Combined Events and Juvenile Relays, this was the first time our club had participated at these events and all six athletes performed admirably. The Boys U13 Relay team of Sean Burke, Jack Hickey, Brian Maher and Patrick Campion produced a fantastic performance finishing 3rd in their heat but unfortunately it was not enough to make the final four, the boys can be very proud of their performance in what was a very competitive event. We had three athletes competing in the combined events championships, in this event each athlete had to compete in Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot and 800m and the points secured for each event were then added together. Sean Burke took part in the Boys U13 event finishing 5th overall having performed strongly at each event and in particular at High Jump and Shot.  Niamh Ryan who was participating at this event for the first time also finished 5th overall, Niamh competed well at each event with the 800m being her strongest where she ran a superb race to finish 1st by about 30m. Emma Doyle who was also participating for the first time at this event finished 5th overall excelling in her High Jump where she recorded a PB of 1.40m. Well done to all athletes involved on the day, this was an experience which was enjoyed by all and I’m sure will be an event which the club will take part in again in the future.
