Sunday 16th of April saw our much anticipated Open Sports Day for our juveniles. The day was a huge success thanks to our committee, volunteers who put in brilliant efforts in having everything in order for the day. We thank the Ely family for their generous sponsorship and Naomi for the sambos.
The Open Sports was all the better with the blessing of fine weather which was massively helped with the events success. We as a club are so thankful for all the support from fellow clubs near and far. It was evident to see that there were lots of smiling young athletes about. All participates should be so proud of their achievements, many of whom had their first experience running on a tartan track or indeed throwing the a Turbo Javelin or Shot Putt. We note that there was a good number of of newcomers who have never tried athletics before, we hope you had a great experience and would consider taking up the sport by joining a club. As we know athletics is an inclusive sport and offers something for everyone.
Our own club athletes were out in force and all were so looking forward to the event for a number of weeks now. Their performances were excellent, some coming away with medals and all applied themselves excellently. Most athletes commenced the day with a Sprint and moved on to Long Jump, Throw and or Distance event. The day concluded with a relay all athletes who got involved. Today was all about practicing what we do in training and gaining competition day experience as we look towards the track and field season. The following athletes who competed, well done to each of you and we hope it’s a day you will remember for many years to come.
