25 young athletes travelled to Templemore on Sunday last to participate in the County U/9-U/12 Track & Field Championships and in such competitive surroundings the athletes gave excellent performances with three of them winning individual medals and two relay teams also collecting medals. Our three individual medallists were Allanah Spillane 3rd in the Girls U/9 Long Jump, Luke Walsh 3rd in the Boys U/9 Turbo Javelin and David Doyle 3rd in the Boys U/11 High Jump. The Girls U/9 relay team produced a great performance to finish 3rd with Sarah McGinley, Maria Doyle, Dearbhla Gleeson and Allanah Spillane the winning quartet while third place also went to the Girls U/12 relay team of Tara Gleeson, Amy Reddan, Helen Cleere and Louise Hickey. In addition Dearbhla Gleeson and Louise Hickey reached the final of their respective 60mts events while Cormac Burke finished fourth in the U/11 Turbo Javelin. Top ten finishes were also recorded by Blathnaid Lloyd, Jack Flanagan, Sean Boland and Helen Cleere. The following also competed over a range of events from Long Jump, Turbo Javelin, Shot, Sprints and Middle Distance –Jack Reddan, Frank Doyle, Adam Spillane Leane, Fred Power, Adam Phelan, Cody Doyle, Matt Walsh, Jake Bowe, Aaron McLoughlin, Aaron Moore and Liam Ryan. Again well done to all our athletes on their performances and many thanks to all the parents who supported them throughout the day.
