County Schools Cross Country

The County Secondary Schools cross country championships took place in Thurles last week and a number of club athletes were competing for their schools. At Minor level Katie Bergin and Aisling Dwyer were in action for the Presentation Convent, Thurles finishing 5^th and 10^th respectively while Charlie Tobin competed for Scóil Rúain, Killenaule finishing 9^th overall and part of the school team that won the team championship. In the Junior category Dylan McLoughlin representing Thurles CBS finished an excellent 2^nd overall while Aoibheann Duggan representing the Presentation Convent, Thurles finished 11^th and was also on the school team that finished 2^nd. At Intermediate level Erika Carroll and Maria Brennan representing the Ursuline, Thurles finished 7^th and 17^th respectively with Erika part of the school team that finished 2^nd. Jack Hickey, Thurles CBS finished 6^th overall and a member of the school team that won their event while Niall Moore, Thurles CBS finished 19^th and Lorcan Troy, Scóil Rúain, Killenaule finished 49^th. In the Senior category Emma Doyle, Ursuline, Thurles finished 6^th overall just ahead of Katie Tobin, Scóil Rúain, Killenaule in 8^th and both were members of their respective school teams that finished 2^nd and 3^rd while Eamonn Troy competing for Scóil Rúain, Killenaule finished 10^th overall. Well done to each athlete some of whom now go forward to the Munster Schools Championships.
