The club was represented in the County Masters Indoor Championships by four athletes – Stephen Flanagan, Brian Carrol, Noel Daly and Paddy Doyle and what a great start to the new year they gave the club winning 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals between them.
Stephen Flanagan equalled his pb of 1.60m when winning the 0/35 high jump and was just pipped on the line when finishing second in the 1,500mts. Brian Carroll, competing in his first Indoor Championship, came second in the 60m and 400m and third in the 800m, 0/35. Noel Daly had a brilliant start to his sprinting career when finishing second in the 60m, 0/40, but unfortunately he badly tore his hamstring in the process and fell over the finish line, at speed! Paddy Doyle completed the quartet for the club with gold in the 60m and 400m, 0/45. Unfortunately due to Noel’s injury the club were unable to field a relay team.
Congratulations and very well done to each athlete and we all wish Noel a speed recovery from one very unfortunate injury.
