As a result of the club’s success at the “A” Championships only fifteen young athletes were eligible to travel to Dundrum to take part in the County Juvenile “B” Cross Country Championships and each of them ran their hearts out in their respective events.  The club had three individual medallists in Sean Boland, Jack Reddan and Cormac Burke while the Boys U/9 team finished second club.

Three boys lined up for the U/9 Boys race and what an event for the club with both Sean Boland and Jack Reddan taking individual silver and bronze medals for their tremendous efforts.  Finishing 28th overall was Aaron Loughnane who though new to this type of competition this year ran his heart out with the result that the three boys won the team silver medals on a score of 33pts.

Six U/9 girls toed the line for their event with Ruth Phelan leading them home in 18th place.  Just yards behind was Orla Duggan in 19th with Sarah McGinley getting up to take 20th place.  These three girls finished 5th in the club event.  Mary Kate Ely finished 21st while Mairead Duggan came through for 29th followed by Isabella Jones in 30th and this team finished 8th club overall.

The club was represented by five athletes in the Boys U/11 event with Cormac Burke securing a bronze medal following his ninth place finish.  Just missing out on an individual medal was Adam Phelan having finished 11th while Jack Gleeson ran on strongly to finish 18th.  Ben Moore and Finn Jones battled hard for 22nd and 23rd respectively with the boys finishing 4th club in the team event.

Our final athlete on the day was Liam Ryan who was in action in the U/13 race and again he produced a great performance to finish 13th overall.

Well done to each of the athletes on their great performances and many thanks to the parents and helpers for their support on the day.
