Saturday in Templemore, proved to be a great success story for the junior and senior athletes from Moyne AC as they came home with 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals from the seven athletes who participated. It was a clean sweep for our junior ladies in the 100mts and 200mts. In the 100mts the title went to Aisling Dwyer in 13.19 followed in second place by her sister Aoife in 13.30 and Leona Maher third in 13.41. The title in the 200mts went to Katie Bergin in 25.44 followed by Aisling Dwyer in 27.43 with Aoife Dwyer third in 27.68 and Leona Maher fourth in 27.75. These events were two of the most contested races on the day and congrats to the four girls for their marvellous performances. Our fifth athletes at junior level was Mary Cussen who took part in the 800mts finishing fourth in 2.43.83 and the Long Jump where her best jump of 3.90mts saw her finish fifth. Well done Mary.
The club had two ladies in the Senior Championships with Bernadette Spillane winning the 400mts in 1.07.95 – just shy of her personal best, but what a season opener. Sharon Cantwell doubled up in the 800mts and 1,500mts, which is a tough combination but she proceeded to win the 800mts in 2.36.19 and finish second in the 1,500mts just over an hour later in 5.16.28. Congratulations both Ber and Sharon who continue to keep the green and gold flag flying.
