Age 6 – Little Athletics Programme

The Little Athletics Programme in Moyne is run for children who are aged 6 and over.  The programme is a fun introduction to the basics of athletics and aims to develop children’s ABCs – agility, balance and coordination.

Juveniles aged 7 – 10

Juvenile training for 7 – 10 year olds introduces the speed and distance aspects of running.  Relay running and hurdles are also featured.  Athletes in this age group may enter county competitions and qualify for provincial and national competitions.  The children are also given the opportunity to participate in local athletics events which continue to promote the fun and social side of athletics.

Juveniles aged 11 – 19

The older Juvenile athletes at Moyne Athletic Club are coached in distance and speed endurance with emphasis on running technique.  The High Jump and Long Jump are also introduced to this age group. Improving strength and flexibility are important for older Juveniles and coaching is also provided in this area.  These older athletes also participate in county, provincial and national events as well as local athletics meetings.

Senior Ladies and Senior Men

The Senior Ladies and Senior Men train separately at Moyne.  Coaching happens during the Meet and Train Sessions  and focuses on building distance endurance and speed endurance.  These sessions cater for all levels of ability – from walkers and joggers to competitive runners and are a really enjoyable way to get in some exercise.
