Dublin City Marathon
The club had just one competitor in the Irish Life Health Dublin City Marathon on Sunday with Brian Carroll proudly wearing the green and gold amongst the crowd of 25,000 competitors. Huge preparation is required for marathon running and Brian had certainly done his, hitting halfway in 1.38 and on course for a new pb over the distance. However, as everyone knows, marathon running can be so unpredictable and feeling the effects in the last few miles he came through the finish line in 3.49.40 to finish amongst the first 1,200 athletes’ home. What an effort by Brian and he can certainly be proud of his efforts. Our congratulations also to Courtney McGuire of Clonmel AC who in her first ever marathon, ran a blinder to finish third overall and claim the national marathon title.
Munster Un-Even Age Juvenile & Senior Cross-Country Championships
Limerick Racecourse is the venue on Sunday next for the Munster Un-Even Age and Senior Cross-Country Championships and the club will be well represented with twenty-three athletes travelling to the event from U/9 to Senior. Our last visit to the venue saw very wet and muddy conditions and with all the rain over the past week and more predicted over the coming days, the athletes will more than likely face the same conditions, but all have the ability to overcome these difficulties and produce their best performances on the Munster stage. All are wished the best of luck and travelling are: – Annie Ely, Robyn Upsdell, Meadhb Hall, Lily Murphy, Faye Murphy, Senan Phelan, Darragh Maher, Matthew Esmonde, Danann Sweeney, Cathal O’Reilly, Bill O’Neill, Cian Kelly, Caoimhe Slevin, David Nolan, Noah Murphy, Jack Renehan, Alana Spillane, Emma Delaney, Aisling O’Reilly, Kate Delaney, Adam Phelan, Sharon Cantwell, and Lisa Quinlan.
