County Junior, Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships
The club was represented by six of our athletes at the County Track & Field Championships held in Templemore on Sunday. First into action was Leona Maher in the Junior 100mts and in a quality field she came through for third place in a time of 13.55secs. Katie Bergin was the lone athlete in the Senior 100mts, and she crossed the line in 12.32. Both Leona & Katie also ran in the 200mts with victory for both – 28.14secs for Leona and 25.02secs for Katie. Aaron Moore & Michael O’Mahony competed in the Junior 3k with Aaron finishing second in 10.10.38 and Michael fourth in 10.48.18. Both Bernadette Spillane and Paddy Doyle recorded double victories in the master categories – Ber in the M40 200mts (30.20 secs) and 400mts (1.08.80) and Paddy M55 100mts (14.86 secs) and Shot (8.47mts). Congratulations to all our athletes involved.
Condolences
The club would like to extend its sympathy to Marie and Aidan Hayes and the extended Hayes Family on the recent passing of husband and father Pa Joe. He served as club secretary for a number of years and was always willing to give a helping hand at our events. He will be sadly missed by all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Open Road Races
Club members were in action in the recent Streets of Kilkenny 5k where Sharon Cantwell (18.48), Pakie Bowe (18.51), Sinead Tynan (20.44), Frances Long (24.28) and Jake Bowe (27.13) were amongst the large field of athletes and in Banagher where Sharon Cantwell recorded a new pb over 5k of 18.24.
County Masters Road Championships
This competition takes place on Sunday 8th May in Templemore with a 10.30am start. Athletes competing should inform competition secretary, Bernadette Spillane, as soon as possible. The distance for both events is 6k.
County Juvenile Track & Field Championships
The U/9 to U/12 County Track & Field Championships take place in Templemore on Saturday 14th May with the U/13 to U/19 competition taking place on the Sunday (15th May). With only three weeks to the competition, it is important that all athletes attend training in preparation for the event.
Committee Meeting
The next meeting of our officers and committee will take place this Wednesday night at 8.30pm in the club meeting rooms. All members are asked to attend.
Split the Bucket!
The winner of the Split the Bucket for Friday April 22nd was Adam Phelan, Cooleeney. Winning amount €126. Envelopes are available at all training sessions and in Quinlan’s Pub, Moyne On-line options are also available on our website www.moyneathleticclub.com and follow the Split the Bucket tab where there are several prepay options.
