Day 2 of the National Juvenile Championships

These championships took place on Saturday at Tullamore Harriers Athletic Club.  Moyne AC were represented by Maria Doyle who competed in the U14 Discus final. Under the supervision of her coach/dad Paddy, Maria had been progressing over the summer with her throwing and on Saturday morning she performed very well against stiff competition.

Maria got off to an excellent start with her first throw measuring at 22.75m. This would be her best throw of the day. After the first round she was sitting in 2nd position but as the competition heated up Maria was pushed down to 4th place towards the end of the later stages of competition. When competition concluded after six rounds of action, Maria was just edged off the podium by 3cm to settle for 4th place on the day. She put in a brilliant effort at this level and showed her capabilities of becoming a dynamic multi eventer in the future! Congratulations to Maria on a gallant performance at National Level!
