County Cross Country Relays
The County Cross Country Relays took place in Thurles Crokes on Sunday and the club was represented by 13 teams from U10 to Senior who gave it their all in the green and gold. Our only medal winners on the day were the Senior team of Lisa Quinlan, Brendan Delaney, Ber Spillane and Aaron Moore who all put in exceptional performances to finish in third place and bronze medals. Their time for the 4 x 500mts race was 6.42. Well done to this quartet who put a smile on many a Moyne face afterwards.
In the Girls U10 the team of Lily Murphy, Meadhb Hall, Annie Ely and Doireann Quinlan came 7th while Poppy Lyons, Emily Bergin, Anna Concagh and Eva Maher finished 10th. In the Boys U10 the club had three teams competing with Darragh Maher, Matthew Esmonde, Senan Phelan and Zach Ryan finishing 4th, the team of Geoffrey Morrissey, Tom Renehan, Fionn Phelan and Cian Kelly finished 9th with Patrick Bradshaw, Daniel Delaney, Darragh Joyce and Owen Mead in 10th. In the Girls U12 event Caoimhe Slevin, Abbie Delaney, Faye Murphy and Grainne Daly finished 6th while the team of Amber Doherty, Kate Concagh, Caoimhe Doyle and Saoirse Joyce finished 13th. In the Boys U12 we had two teams with Cathal O’Reilly, Bill O’Neill, Gerard Delaney and Michael Doyle in 8th and Thomas Kennedy, Jay Quinlan, William Morrissey and Danann Sweeney 12th. The club had one team in each of the U14 races with Aisling O’Reilly, Olive Spillane-Leane, Ailis Concagh and Ruth Phelan finishing 6th while Jim O’Neill, Noah Murphy, David Nolan and Jack Renehan came 5th. The final team in action was the Mixed U16 team of David McConnell, Adam Phelan, Kate Delaney and Emma Delaney who finished 5th.
Well done to all the athletes, 52 in total, who competed across the day. Everyone put in a huge effort and can be very happy with their performances. Our thanks to all the parents, coaches and club personnel who helped out on the day and provided great support for the athletes.
Autumn Open International Cross Country
Sharon Cantwell travelled to Dublin on Sunday to take part in the Autumn Open International Cross Country at Abbottstown. On a course that demands stamina and speed, Sharon put in a great effort to finish 39th in the senior ladies’ race in a time of 25.18.
Munster Even Age Juvenile & Novice Cross Country Championships
The first of the Munster Cross Country Championships takes place Sunday next, October 23rd, in Riverstick, Co. Cork. Competing for the club are Darragh Maher, Matthew Esmonde, Tom Renehan, Caoimhe Slevin, Helen Renehan, Aisling O’Reilly, Alana Spillane, Adam Phelan, Michael O’Mahoney, Aaron Moore and Sharon Cantwell. All are wished the best of luck.
Club Meeting
The next club meeting takes place this coming Wednesday night, October 19th at 8.30pm in the club house. All committee members are asked to attend.
Split the Bucket
The winner of our Split the Bucket for Friday October 14th October was Liam Kirby. The winning amount was €144. Tickets can be purchased at all training sessions and from Tigh Maighne and Quinlan’s Moyne. They are also available to purchase online on our club website www.moyneathleticclub.com.
