Club Condolences
The unexpected death took place of Willie Flynn, Outrath, Cahir on 26th December. The late Willie was a brother to Club President John Flynn, Club Vice President Tomas Flynn, and Coach Martin Flynn. Indeed all the Flynn Family have been club stalwarts since its inception in 1948. While Willie did not partake in a huge amount of athletics it was his managerial skills that shone as he was club secretary for a number of years back in the 1960’s also taking on the role of club treasurer for a year or so. Without doubt Willie will be solely missed by his wife Mary and children Martina, Alma, Tommy, and Willie to whom we extend our deepest sympathies. We also extend our sincere condolences to John, Tomas, and Martin and to Willie’s sisters Anna, Reena, Mary & Brigid, and all extended families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílís.
National Indoor League
The start of the indoor track season for our club athletes commenced on Sunday with the staging of the first round of the national indoor track and field league in the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown, Dublin. Katie Bergin was our athlete in action and what a start to her season with a new personal best in the 60mts clocking 8.00secs when winning her heat. 22 athletes competed in the event and Katie’s time placed her 5th fastest overall. Undaunted by this terrific start she also took to the blocks for the 200mts and again proved the fastest in her heat, crossing the line in 25.63secs. This time saw Katie place fourth fastest of the 23 competitors. Congratulations Katie on a great start to the season.

Club AGM
Following a meeting of club officers and committee last week, the club AGM has been set for Thursday 3rd February at 8pm. Several officers indicated their intention to step down from their positions at this meeting and for those yet to confirm that they are also stepping down, please confirm to Kate Harrison as soon as possible. Running a club on a voluntary basis takes a lot of effort and thus far we have been very fortunate in having willing hands to step up, but we will now require more members to put their name forward to help. If you are interested in being part of the running of the Club, please contact any of the club officers.
