County Juvenile B and Novice B Cross Country Championships

The County Juvenile ‘B’ Cross Country Championship took place on Sunday December 8 in Moyne, in very tough weather conditions with strong cold winds and rain showers frequenting the juvenile races. 25 juvenile athletes came out in these conditions to represent the club.

First out was the U9’s, running 500m. Kate Concagh was first home for Moyne in 6th place with Saoirse Dunne hot on her heels finishing 7th. Seán Cahill led the Boys home in a great first place with Michael Doyle 5th and Darragh Moore 6th. These 3 boys were also first in the team event. U11s, running 1,000m, were next to face the elements with Reiltín Morrissey running a fantastic race to finish 1st, followed by Emily Cahill 2nd and Maria Doyle 3rd, Ailís Concagh 13th and Niamh Gleeson 15th.  Reiltín, Emily and Maria were first in the team event also. David Nolan ran a great race finishing 2nd, followed closely by Rógan Lyons 3rd, Luke Molloy 8th, Darragh Cleere 11th, Noah Murphy 12th, Jack Renehan 14th and Dáithí Cussen 17th. David, Rógan and Luke also finished 2nd in the team event. U13 girls, running 1,500m, were next with Cara Delaney first home for the club in 7th, Róisín Wall 10th and Ellen Nolan 11th. These 3 girls were 3rd in the team event. Niamh Cleere also took part in this race but pulled up due to injury. Moyne took 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the boys U 13 with Frank Doyle 2nd, Bill Cussen 3rd and Paddy Cussen 4th. These 3 boys were 1st in the team event. Our final athlete to compete on the day was Mary Cussen who ran a super race to finish 1st in the girls U15 2,500m. Well done to each athlete for competing on the day in very difficult conditions resulting in a total of 14 individual medals and 5 sets of team medals. Congratulations to you all, the club is very proud of you.

Aisling Maher, Edel Delaney and Michelle Percy were the club’s representatives in the Novice B Ladies event and running 3k they produced solid performances to clinch the team silver medals with Aisling also collecting a coveted individual medal having finished third overall.  Edel came through for sixth with Michelle in eight.  Well done ladies on your performances in such tough conditions.

Thanks to everyone who helped in any way with the staging of the County B Cross Country Championships in Moyne on Sunday. Events like this do not run on their own.  A sincere thanks to Richie and Paddy Daly and the Daly families for the use of their lands to stage the event which was very much appreciated by the club. 

National Uneven Age Juvenile and Novice Cross-Country Championships

The club will have six representatives in action at the National Uneven Age Juvenile & Novice Cross Country Championships in Dunboyne, Co. Meath on Sunday next.  Alana Spillane and Aaron Moore are both representing Munster at U/13 and U/15 level with Aaron also competing on the Tipperary U/15 team alongside David Doyle.  Adam Phelan and Jack Flanagan are representing Tipperary at U/13 level while Angela Fogarty will be taking part in the Novice event as part of the Tipperary team.  We wish them all the very best of luck. 

Registration for 2020

Registration forms for 2020 are now available in the club house.  All members, juvenile and senior, need to re-register for the new year.  Completed forms and the appropriate monies should be given to club registrar, Sharon Cantwell, over the next couple of weeks.

Christmas Morning Mile

Our annual Christmas morning mile will once again take place on December 25.  This year all proceeds from the event will be donated to Mo Chara Animal Rescue who are doing tremendous work from their kennels in Cooleeney.  Everyone is invited to Walk, Jog or Run four laps of the track on the day, anytime between 10.30am and 12.30am.  What better way to start the day? 

County Senior and Masters’ Indoor Track & Field Championships

The indoor track and field season commences on Sunday 29th January with the staging of the County Senior & Masters Championships in the Nenagh Olympic Indoor Arena commencing at 10.30am.  With the Christmas period  in between it is important that all athletes who are interested in competing would give their name and events to Geraldine as soon as possible.
