Munster U23 Indoor Track & Field Championships
The new year was only into its second day when athletic competition resumed and what a way it started for Katie Bergin as she travelled to Nenagh for the Munster U23 Track & Field Championships and came away as the Munster Champion over 200mts and silver medalist in the 60mts. On the tight indoor track her times of 26.25 secs and 8.13 secs respectively are nice season’s opening times. Well done Katie on your performances.
National Indoor Track & Field League
There was no rest from competition for Katie Bergin as she guested in the first round of the National Indoor League on Sunday and with many of Ireland’s top track athletes competing at the event it showed in the results with some great times recorded. Indeed Katie relished the competition, with a 2nd place in her heat of the 60mts to finish the competition 8th overall and 4th in her heat of the 200mts to finish 5th overall. Her times of 7.85 secs and 25.60 secs were a significant improvement on the previous week’s and augers well for the rest of the indoor season.
National U23 Indoor Track & Field Championships
Competition is coming thick and fast in the Indoor Championships and Katie Bergin will once again be in action this coming Saturday as the National U23 Indoor Championships take place in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin. Katie will once again compete in both the 60mts and 200mts and we wish her the very best of luck.
County Senior & Masters Indoor Championships
The first of the County Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Senior & Masters, takes place this Sunday in the Nenagh Olympic Indoor Arena. We wish all athletes competing the very best of luck.
2023 Club Registration
With the arrival of the new year it also heralds the arrival of a new registration year and we are asking all members to renew their 2023 registration. All those attending training or competition must be registered. If you are having any difficulties with the system, please contact our club registrar, Michelle Percy, who will be more than willing to sort out any issues.
Club AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Club will take place on Friday 20th January. This is your club and we encourage all adult members to attend and feed into the club. We rely on volunteers to run the club and are always seeking new people to get involved. The election/re-election of officers and committee will take place at this meeting and anyone who is willing to give a helping hand, please put your name forward to Chairperson, Paddy Doyle.
New Year-New Resolutions
We always consider new year’s resolutions at this time of the year. What better way to be a happier and healthier person than taking part in a non-competitive training atmosphere. Starting this week, on Thursday nights from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, we will be offering training advice and a safe environment to either run/walk. Whether this is your first time donning a pair of runners or a seasoned campaigner, we welcome everyone. Do not hesitate – lights on from 7.30pm.
Split the Bucket
The winner of our Split the Bucket for Friday January 6th was James Delaney. The winning amount was €125. Tickets can be purchased at all training sessions and from Tigh Maighne and Quinlan’s Moyne. They are also available to purchase online on our club website www.moyneathleticclub.com. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.
