AAI Games

Two athletes, Katie Bergin and Jack Hickey, represented the club at the AAI games in Santry on Sunday.  In an action packed programme of events and against the top athletes in the Country both did exceptionally well.

Katie set a new personal best of 59.16 for the 400mts, breaking the 60 second barrier for the first time.  In the process she has also set a new club record for the event, breaking a 29 year old record of 60.05 by Louise Maher in June 1993.  Well done Katie.

Jack ran within 2/10’s of a second of his own personal best in his 400mts heat with a strong finish to cross the line in 52.23, very consistent performances from Jack.

Irish Life Health National Junior & U/23 T&F Championships

This coming weekend 19th/20th June will be a busy one for our junior and U/23 athletes as their national championships take place in Morton Stadium, Santry.  Against the backdrop of Covid-19 all precautions will be put in place to ensure the championships run off smoothly and without incidence and for our five athletes this will be yet another step up in competition, one which they will certainly relish.  Jack Hickey and Katie Bergin compete in the U/23 200mts and 400mts with Aisling Dwyer, Leona Maher and Aoife Dwyer competing in the Junior 100mts and 200mts.  All four girls will then combine to compete in the 4 x 100mts and 4 x 400mts relay events.  The club wishes all five athletes the very best of luck.

2021 Summer Games

Sunday 4th July has been pencilled in for this year’s Summer Games.  Over the past three years this event has grown from strength to strength and no doubt this year the club will again produce the goods to provide a platform for athletes to show their talent on the track and in the field.  More details will issue later in the week.

The winner of the Split the Bucket for Friday 11th June was Kathleen Flynn, Bouladuff.  Any one interested in being part of this fundraiser for the club can contact Elaine Flynn or Kathleen Maher at training on Tuesday and Friday nights or any committee member.  €2 per envelope per draw.  Option to pre-pay is also available and coming on-line shortly.
