Well done to everyone who participated in the Christmas Morning Mile on 25th December. Over 225 people were in attendance on the track on the day with many opting to walk or jog the four laps. Timing was available for those interested and it resulted in 19 people, including the following, having personal bests over the distance. Fastest mile of the day came from Liam Kelly who ran 5.09. His brother Brian ran 5.18 with Simon Everard in 5.20, Nathan Bowe crossing the line in 5.27 followed by Ciaran Purcell in 5.30. Patrick Bowe ran 5.36 with Harry Hogan on 542 and Louis Everard and Richard Daly finishing on 5.43 followed by Dylan McLoughlin on 5.52. Young athletes Adam Spillane Leane and Frank Doyle completed the four laps in 6.58 and 7.15. On the female side Lorraine Healy ran 5.40 with sister Orla running 5.59 while Deirdre Lane finished in 6.25, Ber Spillane 7.03, Aoife Everard 8.04 and Aoibheann Duggan in 7.12. Well done to everyone involved and a huge thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to this year’s chosen charity “The Franciscan Fund”. A final tally has yet to be completed with donations still coming in but so far over €2,000 has been collected. Our thanks also to our invited guests the Cummins Family, Rahealty or better known as “Ireland’s Fittest Family” for their support and giving of their time to jog with the young athletes and pose for numerous photos with those attending on the day. Everyone really enjoyed their presence.
