πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Tipperary Junior, Senior, & Master Track and Field Championships
πŸ“ Templemore
πŸ—“οΈ Sunday 21st April 2024
This Sunday sees the turn of our junior, senior and master athletes to take to the track for their county championships. Moyne AC will be well represented in Templemore this Sunday.
In the junior age category we have two young ladies who have put in tremendous hard work over the past number of weeks and months. Niamh Cleere will be stepping foot in the blocks for the 100m and 200m meter. Kate Delaney will make her steeplechase debut in the junior ladies 2k. Kate has been working incredibly hard practicing her technique hopping over the hurdles during warm ups and during sessions.
Moving to the senior age group, Louise Fogarty will be looking to convert her successes on the road to track success this weekend. Louise had an excellent road season placing 3rd in the senior and 1st in the intermediate championships. Louise goes in the ladies 3k on Sunday.
In the masters category Moyne AC will have three ladies competing. Naomi Morrissey who claimed Munster gold in the indoor shot and WFD in Nenagh back in early February, will once again go again in the shot and WFD this weekend. Edel Delaney fresh from her great run at night one of the Burma Challenge on Wednesday night will go in the 800m. Ber Spillane who capped off her excellent indoor season with the European Master Indoor Championships a couple of weeks ago will step in the blocks for 200m and 400m.
To top off the day we will have two teams in the relay. The ladies are entered in the 4x100m with the team TBC. We also have a men’s team entered in the 4x400m relay. Brian O Callaghan will be making his return for Moyne AC after a number of years of a break from athletics. Tom McGrath will be making his debut for Moyne AC. Brian and Tom will be joined by the McLaughlin brothers to make up the quartet. Dylan has showed good form on his return to racing so far, and will be stepping down to the 400m for a change of scenery for the day. The versatile Aaron McLaughlin will be the one designated to bring the batton home for the Moyne AC men.
A big day for all our athletes especially those making their debuts and returns.
Best of luck to everyone. Keep an eye on our socials for updates throughout the day.
