Alana Spillane captures U/14 Title – Boys U/10 win Team Gold

The County Juvenile Even Age Championships took place in Newport on Sunday 3rd October. Moyne AC had 39 juvenile athletes competing on the day, many competing for the first time in cross country with the club. Moyne AC came home with 5 individual medals and 4 sets of team medals.

First out were the U10 girls running 800m. Cathleen Cussen led the Moyne girls home in 14th place, followed by Abbie Manton 18th, Faye Murphy 19th & Poppy Lyons 27th. These girls finished fourth in the team competition. Unfortunately, Caoimhe Doyle was unable to complete the race due to illness.  U10 boys also ran 800m. Bill O’Neill was first home for Moyne finishing in 6th place, followed by Darragh Maher 8th and Cathal O’Reilly 10th, these 3 boys won individual bronze medals and also gold medals in the team competition along with Senan Phelan who finished 14th. Geoffrey Morrissey finished 28th, Dannan Sweeney 30th, Fionn Phelan 31st, Leo Cullen 36th and William Morrissey 37th. Geoffrey, Dannan, Fionn & Leo were 7th in the team competition.

U12 girls took to the field next, running 2000m. Muireann Casey won herself an individual bronze medal by finishing in 10th place. Muireann, Caoimhe Slevin 11th, Saoirse Deegan 12th and Olive Spillane Leane 13th made up the team that came 3rd in the team event winning bronze medals. Ailis Concagh finished 16th, Maria Doyle 18th, Arlene Flanagan 20th and Abbie Delaney 31st and these four girls were 5th in the team competition.

U12 boys also ran 2000m with Noah Murphy finishing 21st, Jack Renehan 22nd, Billy Flanagan 23rd, David Nolan 29th, Aidan Evans 30th, Michael Doyle 38th and Dáithí Cussen 41st. Noah, Jack, Billy & David were 5th in the team event.

U14 girls completed 3000m. Alana Spillane led the field home in 1st place and won an individual gold medal. Aisling O’Reilly finished 9th, Emma Delaney 14th and Laura Fogarty 19th. These four girls were 2nd in the team event winning silver medals.

Bill Cussen was our only competitor in the boys U14 finishing in 12th place.

Boys U16 ran 4000m. Jack Flanagan was home in 6th place, followed by Adam Spillane Leane 8th and Adam Phelan 9th. These three boys won silver team medals by placing 2nd in the team event.

Mary Cussen and Michéal O’Mahony represented the club at U18 level with Mary running 4000m finishing 5th and Michéal running 6000m finishing 6th.

Well done to all athletes today. All roads now lead to Galbally for the Uneven Age Championship next Sunday.
