🏃🏻‍♂️🏃‍♀️ 123.ie National Indoor Combined Events.
📍 NIA Abbotstown.
On Sunday we will have two competitors competing at the 123.ie National Indoor Combined Events. These athletes are Helen Renehan and Gerard Delaney, both competing at under 14 level.
The modern combined events began in America in the 1880’s. Early competitions there were held over a single day and became so popular that the organisers of the 1904 Olympic Games in St Louis included a combined events competition as an unofficial discipline in the programme of the Games (World Athletics).
Helen and Gerard will have to throw, jump, hurdle and run there way through the five events which include the 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and finally the a gruelling 4 laps (800m) to cap off their day and perhaps decide the final standings.
Best of luck to Helen and Gerard, two young versatile athletes with a bright future ahead in the green and gold.
Updates will follow throughout Sunday.
Please find the timetable attached (subject to change).
