World Master’s Track and Field championships, Malaga

Well done to Brian Carroll who competed in the half marathon on Sunday. Brian ran a super 1 hour 32 minutes in the Irish singlet. Well done Brian!

 

Inter-Club Cross Country

Inter-Club Cross Country championships will take place on the 21st of September between Moyne AC, Coolquill, Moycarkey and Moyglass in Moyglass at 12pm. Further details will be provided at training on Tuesday.

 

Tipperary School Cross County

The Tipperary Primary Schools Cross Country Championships take place on Wednesday the 26th of September in Thurles Crokes AC sport’s grounds. Further information to be sent out to schools.

 

Tipperary Cross Country Championships

County Tipperary Juvenile Even Age and Novice Cross Country Championships will take place on the 7th of October starting  at 12pm. The County Tipperary Juvenile Uneven Age and Intermediate Cross Country Championships will take place on the following Sunday, October 14th at 12pm. Entries for both of these events should be given to Ger no later than the 19th of September.

Club Gear

Final orders for club gear this year should be submitted no later than October 1st for club tracksuit, crop tops and jerseys. Order forms can be collected at the club house on training nights.

Children First Act 2017

Athletic Ireland’s National Children’s Officer, Kieron Stout is hosting an Information Evening for County Tipperary Athletics Clubs on Wednesday 19th September in Thurles Crokes A.C. at 7pm. The purpose of the meeting is to spend time looking at Club requirements under the Children First Act 2017.

Club Training

Club Training has resumed for all athletes aged six years and over at 7:30pm  every Tuesday and Friday. All new members are welcome.

Tipperary Sports Partnership are holding their annual Tipperary Mini Marathon (10k) on Sunday 30th of September in Thurles at 11am.  Entry on-line or via postal entry.  Entry fee €20.  Additional cost €1.50 for on-line entry.  Closing date is Monday 24th September.  Course details are accessible online.

Munster Cross Country Championships

The Munster Juvenile Even Age, Novice & U/23 Cross Country Championships will take place in Beaufort, Co. Kerry on the 21st of October. Any interested athletes should register by October 9th with Ger.

Open Cross Country Competitions

St Senans AC Open Cross Country takes place at the sport’s centre in Kilmacow on the 30th of September starting at 1pm. Events for juveniles and senior. The Autumn Open Cross Country Festival takes place on the National Sport’s Campus on Sunday the 21st of October, starting at 2pm. World Master’s Track and Field Championship

Brian Carroll competes in the World Master’s Track and Field this weekend. Brian competes this Sunday (16th) at 8am in the half marathon. Good Luck Brian!

 

Children First Act 2017 – Information Evening

Athletic Ireland’s National Children’s Officer, Kieron Stout is hosting an Information Evening for County Tipperary Athletics Clubs on Wednesday 19th September in Thurles Crokes A.C. Pole Vault Workshop

Pole Vault Workshop will take place on the 16th of September  from 11 am to 3pm in Templemore. This workshop is for Beginners aged 12 and over. The day costs 5 euro per athlete. Any interested athletes should email eflanpolevault@gmail.com in advance to secure a place.

Full Jumps Workshop
Sunday 23rd September in Templemore Track at 11am. For athletes aged 12 years+, all are welcome and costs 5 euro per athlete. Long Jump (Pat Power), High Jump (Barry Pender), Triple Jump (David Murphy) & Pole Vault (Eamon Flanagan). Contact Pat Power @ jumps@athleticsireland.ie to register.

World Masters T&F Championships

Brian Carroll hasn’t too long to wait now as the World Masters T&F Championships take place from 4-16th of September in Malaga. He will be competing in the O35 Half Marathon on September 16th. We are very proud that he will be flying the flag for Moyne and Ireland. Best of luck Brian!

Moycarkey Coolcroo Ac Road Races

Well done to Liam Kelly who finished 2nd in 17:44.5 in the 5k road race. Pakie Bowe finished 11th in 19:27.9 and Ronan Ely was 21st in 24:13.2. Cathal Ely ran in the 10Km race finishing in 42:26.5. Great running by all!

Senior Training

Training continues for adults, who wish to improve their fitness, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:30pm. While there are athletes training for the upcoming cross country season, there are also those who want to improve their fitness. All levels of ability are welcome to join the group.

Juvenile Training

Cross country training is in full swing for children aged 8 and upwards wishing to compete in the forthcoming season on Tuesday and Fridays at 7:30pm. The first outing for these athletes will be October 7th in Two Mile Borris followed by Moyglass on October 14th. Training for younger athletes and those not competing in cross country will resume shortly.

Club Gear

Anyone interested in purchasing club gear are asked to contact Sharon Cantwell. The order forms are available in the club house. In addition to the zip tops and bottoms, t-shirts and crop tops (for female track runners) are available to order if the demand is great enough. This order will be placed by early October so don’t delay.

 Tullamore Quinnlan Cup Half Marathon
The Tullamore Quinnlan Cup Half Marathon was held on Saturday the 25th of August in Tullamore, Co Offaly. Brian Carroll ran 1:29:35. Well done Brian.
Club Gear
Orders will be taken for club gear including tracksuit, crop-tops and t-shirts this month. All orders should be made before the 2nd of October via order forms that are available at the clubhouse. Contact Sharon for further details.

All-Ireland Master’s Track and Field Championships

The All-Ireland Master’s Track and Field championships will take place next weekend in Tullamore on the 18th of August. The club have 6 athletes entered in this competition; Bridget Gleeson, Ray Power, Ber Spillane, Kate Harrison, Liz Power and Edel Delaney. Best of Luck to all athletes and a big thank you to Martin who helped prepare these athletes for this event.

National League Final

The Final round of the national league will take place next weekend on the 19th of August. We have one athlete wearing the Tipperary vest, Katie Bergin, who will run in the 4x100m relay. The very best of luck to Katie and the Tipperary team in this event.

Cross-Country Training

Training will re-commence for athletes who are looking to compete over cross-country this season (8 years plus) will start back Tuesday (20th August) at 7:30pm. All new members are welcome to come along to training.

Tipperary Senior Road Championships, Dundrum

We had two athletes represent the club on Sunday in Dundrum. Sharon Cantwell and Brian Carroll both competed in the blistering heat and finished 18th and 27th respectively

Juvenile All-Ireland Track and Field Championships, Day 3

Day 3 of the Juvenile All-Ireland Track and Field Championships saw Dylan McLaughlin represent the club in the U17 1500m. This was one of the most competitive races of the day with 23 competitors competing for a spot in the national final. Dylan was drawn in the second heat and it was going to be a tough job to qualify with such stiff competition. Dylan ran a great race to produce a personal best performance of 4:27.95. Dylan was less than a second off the ‘fastest loser’s’ spot in the final. Well Done Dylan on the superb performance on the national stage.

Munster ‘B’ Championships, Cork IT.

Well done to Saoirse Doran who competed in the girl’s Under 12 600m. She ran very well to finish 5th overall in a time of 1:57. Well done Saoirse!

Senior National Track and Field Championship, Morton Stadium

The two-day National senior track and field championships will take place in Santry Saturday & Sunday. This is a thoroughly enjoyable day out for any athletic fan, particularly off the back on an exciting month of Irish athletics. Many of our guest athletes in the successful Anniversary Games will be competing as well as athletes bidding to compete in the upcoming European Championships.

National Juvenile Track and Field, Day 1.

Congratulations to Aaron McLoughlin who finished in second position in the U14 2000m boy’s walk. Aaron finished in a time of 11.37 on his first time competing in the National Club competition. Well done Aaron and hopefully we will see more of Aaron on the national stage in the future.

Moyne Athletic Club Notes

Coillte 10k, Dundrum

On Wednesday seven Moyne athletes travelled to Dundrum for the annual Coillte 10k road race. Our athletes ran very well in the warm conditions. Well done to Liam Kelly, Patrick Bowe, Catherine Dunne, Frances Long, Sharon Kiely, Pauline O’Connell and Patricia Ryan who competed in this event.

National League Track and Field Championships Day 2

Well done to Sharon Cantwell and Katie Bergin who travelled to Morton Stadium to guest in the National League round 2. Tipperary were bidding to qualify for a place in the league final in Athlone on the 19th of August. Sharon Cantwell ran in the 1500m and Katie Bergin jumped in the Long Jump, guested in the 200m and ran the first leg of the 4x100m for Tipperary County.

Moyne Athletic Club notes 24.6.2018

Holy Family Templetouhy NS. 5k Fun Run/Walk

A great evening was had in Templetouhy last Friday. Moyne AC won best club on the night and we had a great turn-out supporting our local primary school. Moyne AC saw Stephen Flanagan and Liam Kelly place 1st and 2nd in the 5k and Nathan Bowe was 1st juvenile and 9th overall in the event.  Moyne AC represented themselves very well in this event and well done to everyone who went out to support this great cause.

Thurles Crokes Annual Dave Fogarty Memorial 4 Miler

The annual Dave Fogarty Memorial run took place on Tuesday last and Francis Long and Patrick Bowe took part in this run. Patrick placed in 22nd position in 25:17 and Frances finished in 61st position in 30:45. Well done to both athletes.

Tailteann Games 2018

Congratulations must go to Aaron McLaughlin who competed in the Irish Life Inter-provincial Games on Saturday last in Santry. He was selected to represent Munster in the U17 3km walk. It was Aaron’s first time to compete at this distance where he finished 7th in a time of 18.46. This experience will, undoubtedly, stand to him in future races. Well done.

National League Round 1. Templemore

The first round of the national league took place in Templemore this weekend and Tipperary had a team in both the male and female premier division.  We saw three athletes complete in this event. Kate Harrison ran the 4x100m relay and they placed in 4th place in a time of 52.21. Kate also guested in the 200m with a time of 29.75 along with Katie Bergin in 28:02. Sharon Cantwell had a great run guesting in the 1500m running a PB in 5:40. Well done to the three athletes.
