Competition Results

County Road Master’s Championship
The County Road Master’s Championship were held in Clonmel this Sunday. The both the ladies and men had a 6k race and the club had only three competitors, all of whom competed in the men’s race. Stephen Flanagan was the first of our men to the tape finishing in 10th position. Stephen was followed home by Brian Carroll who placed in 18th position and Patrick Bowe who finished in 34th position. Well done to all three athletes.
Munster Junior & U23 Track and Field Championship
The club had two athletes compete in the Munster Junior and U23 Track and Field Championship in Templemore last Saturday. The day was dry and slightly blustery however both our athletes competed very well in their respective events.
Orla Healy was crowned Munster Champion in the 3000m where she ran a time of 11:35. This was Orla’s first time running in the U23 division and had a very impressive performance on her way to gold.
Dylan McLoughlin was also among the medals in his excellent performance in the Junior Men’s 800m. Dylan ran 2:11 on his way to the silver medal.
Congratulations to both athletes on their super performances.
Upcoming Fixtures
Inter-Schools Track and Field
The inter-school’s Track and Field competition takes place this Friday at 10:30am. The competition will run until 2pm. Eight primary schools in the locality will compete in a selection of sprints, middle distance, long jump and ball-throwing events. Urlingford are the current Large Schools champions while Galmoy are the Small Schools champions but no doubt the other six schools will be out to claim these trophies. Anyone with a couple of hours to spare on the day and willing to lend a hand would be most welcome.
Inter Club Track and Field challenge
The inter-club challenge between Moyne, Coolquill, Moycarkey and Moyglass is taking place on Tuesday the 1st of May. This competition will start and 6:30pm and volunteers for the night are welcome
Club Track and Field League
The first round of the league was held last Thursday night and was very successful with some of our athletes running season best and personal best performances on the night. The second event of this League will take place on Saturday, the 5th of May. Many of the athletes that competed on Thursday will be competing again and events will be confirmed at a later date.
County Junior, Senior and Master’s Track and Field Championships
The County Junior, Senior and Master’s Track and Field Championships are taking place on Sunday the 29th of April. The club have had an excellent record in this event in previous years and we hope that this year will be no different. Entries should already have been submitted to Geraldine for this year’s event.
Club Lotto
The club lotto saw one winner, Tom Butler (Templetouhy). Your continued support continues to be recognised and appreciated.
Annual Church Gate Collection
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Church gate collection. The support is very much appreciated.
Intermediate County Road Championships
The Intermediate County Road Championships took place on Sunday in Faugheen. This event took place over the same course as previous years however the conditions were wet for our racegoers this year. The ladies event had a single entry in the form of Angela Fogarty and the men’s event saw Liam Kelly and Louis Everard sport the green and gold jersey.
Angela Fogarty stayed among the leaders to finish in 5th place in a time of 15:52, which was faster than last year’s event. In the men’s event Liam Kelly had a superb run to finish in 12th position in a time of 29.14. Liam was followed home by Louis Everard in 23rd in a time of 32.10. Well done to the three athletes involved.
Tullaroan Bunny Run
Congratulations to Dylan McLoughlin who won the Tullaroan Bunny Run on Sunday (01.04.) in a time of 20.10. Dylan was followed home by John, Aaron and Sinead who all ran very well! A great day out for the McLoughlins!
Burma Club Challenge
The Burma Club challenge will take place again this year. This popular series will start on the 25th of April and will take place for the 5 Wednesdays following. This is a great event to take part in and is those of all fitness levels. Interested parties should contact a committee member or sign-up at a training session during the upcoming weeks.
Moyne AC Track and Field League
This year the club will hold a Track and Field League over four dates. These dates are set for Thursday 19th of April, 5th of May, 26th of May and the 23rd of June (All Saturdays). The league will start at 7:30 pm for round 1 and 10am for round 2, 3 and 4.
The league is based on teams of 5, with four scoring members each night. All athletes who are interested in taking part must be over 14. We ask that athletes can commit to at least two of the events if they are interested in taking part. Athletes should submit two events that they would be interested in competing in and a program for each night will be announced in the upcoming weeks. A relay will take place each night after individual events.
Annual Mini-Marathon
The Annual Moyne AC Mini-Marathon will take place this year on Monday, the 4th of June. There will both a 5k walk and 10k road race. This is a popular event and this year is slightly different to most years as the event will not take place the same day as the Women’s Mini-Marathon in Dublin. Volunteers will be required for the smooth running of the event so we ask those available to help out to come down on the day.
Moyne AC 70th Anniversary Track and Field Evening
This year marks the club’s 70th year anniversary and to commemorate this momentous event the club is organising a Track and Field Evening which will feature a One Mile Men’s invitational. This event will take place on Thursday the 12th of July, starting at 6:30 pm. This exciting event will have competitions for both Juvenile and Senior athletes. This event will be entry-only and all entries should be given to Geraldine before Monday, the 9th of July. The following is a provisional list of events which will take place on the night.

The County Senior Track and Field is taking place on the 29th of April. All entries for this event should be given to Geraldine by Monday the 23rd of April.
National Road Relays, Raheny
This year, the club will be competing in the National road relay competition that will be held in Raheny, Dublin on the 22nd of April. This event sees teams of three run a 1 mile, 2 mile and 1 mile leg. This is a very competitive event and any interested athletes should contact a coach over the next week.

Club Lotto
Michael Ryan, Graffin, Clonmore was the only winner of this week’s lotto draw. Congratulations and thanks for everyone’s continued support.
The Tipperary Throws Championships were held on the 2nd of April, Bank Holiday Monday and Moyne AC had 4 athletes competing in this event. In the women’s 400m, Ber Spillane and Edel Delaney both had a great race to finish 4th and 5th respectively. Again, in the men’s 400m competition we had two athletes competing. Nathan Bowe and Charlie Tobin ran well to finish 2nd and 3rd. Dylan McLoughlin was our only male entry in the Men’s mile competition. Dylan had a great race to finish 2nd in a time of 5:12.

Moyne AC Track and Field League 18
The Burma Club challenge will take place again this year. This popular series will start on the 09th of May and will take place for the following 5 Wednesdays following. This is a great event to take part in; for people of all fitness levels and interest. Interested parties should contact a committee member or sign-up at a training session during the upcoming weeks.
The Intermediate County Road championships have been re-set to Sunday the 8th of April. The event will be held in Faugheen at 12pm. The ladies event is 4k and the mens event is 8k. Good luck to all athletes competing.
The Novice ‘B’ County Championships took place in Ballingarry on Sunday. The ladies ran 3km and the men ran 6k with excellent running conditions. And what an excellent day for the club it was! Stephen Flanagan was crowned county champion over the 6k course in a time of 20 minutes 53 seconds. This completes the double for Stephen, who won the Novice ‘B’ County Cross-Country this autumn. This terrific performance led the Moyne AC men to silver in the men’s team competition. Brian Carroll and Louis Everard were the second and third scorers on this team, finishing in 9th and 16th respectively. Patrick Bowe had a good run placing in 23rd place in a time of 24minutes 12 seconds with Ray Power finished 35th in a time of 29 minutes 22 seconds.
The women also had an impressive day out, with Sharon Kiely, Sharon Cantwell and Liz Power finishing in the Bronze medal position. Sharon K led the girls home in 9th position, followed closely by Sharon Cantwell (who was recovering from a flu) in 10th. Liz Power finished in 12th position. Well done to all involved. Such a great achievement for the club to medal in both the women and mens competition.
